SourceCollections of indigenous materials in: (1) Iceland (by Thorstein Tomasson, Agricultural Research Institute, Reykjavik); (2) Galena, along Yukon River in west-central Alaska; and (3) Talkeetna Mountains north of Palmer in south-central Alaska.
Breeding MethodBreeder lines were established based on individual plant selections IAS 284 and IAS 371 out of the Icelandic collection, IAS 458 out of the Talkeetna Mountain collection, and IAS 239 bulked material of the Galena collection. Each line is seed-propagated in isolation and breeder seed comprised of pure, live seed equalling 30% IAS 371, 20% IAS 284, 25% IAS 239, and 25% IAS 458.
Intended UseFor revegetation use and low maintenance ground cover; also in turf plantings; possibly for pasture.
