DescriptionExcellent seedling vigor and strong rhizomes. Plants blue-green, leafy, with moderately fine stems. Good forage and seed production. Produces the tightest sod of any accession tested.
SourceCommercial harvest from native meadows along Porcupine Creek, northwest of Forsyth, MT, 1959.
Breeding MethodDirect increase of field collection after comparison with approximately 60 other accessions representing native collections from Montana and Wyoming. Tested as M-23.
Intended UseRosana was developed for irrigated hay or pasture in short water supply areas and overflow sites, or reseeding dryland range sites. Used in native mixtures for reclamation of drastically disturbed areas.
