DescriptionAbility to persist and spread at greater rates than other tested germplasm. Course stem, upright , more open sod developed than with Avalon. Vegetatively reproduced at present. Grows well with good survival in southern coastal areas, spreads well and forms a good rhizome network. Sister selection (PI 421237) released as cultivar Avalon, which is better adapted north of the Carolinas.

Breeding MethodSelected as one of 10 superior accessions from a 79-accession collection established at Plant Materials Center, SCS, Cape May Court House, NJ. Chosen as one of two superior lines and test planted along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts.
Intended UseFor soil erosion prevention on low dunes/high salt marsh along coastal areas.
